HOBLink Secure, the complete, platform-independent package for secure communication and authentication in TCP/IP networks, has been awarded the German IT Security Certificate. After a thorough examination process by an accredited and licensed evaluation facility, the German Federal Office for Information Security has awarded HOBLink Secure this certificate, confirming HOBLink Secure's conformance to the Common Criteria for IT Security Evaluation.
Based on Secure Socket Layer, V.3 (SSL3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS), HOBLink Secure employs the latest technology in creating and managing certificates and encryption keys.

HOBLink Secure provides for encryption with a key length of up to 256 bits. Since the key length for previous solutions usually stops at 128 bits, this means you get an extra measure of security with HOBLink Secure.
In addition to the encryption function, HOBLink Secure offers data compression according to V42.bis, allowing for fast data transfer even when your network bandwidth is tight.
How to implement V42.bis compression in SSL
HOBLink Secure supports the Microsoft Crypto API and thus the use of Smartcards and Tokens, e.g., from Gemplus, Schlumberger and Aladin. These systems prevent attacks via password theft, as user-authentication requires physical possession of these devices. In addition to tokens and SmartCards, HOBLink Secure supports OCSP, with which the HOB WebSecureProxy and Java classes can check, online and in real time, whether certificates are valid or not.

The WebSecureProxy, a secure proxy server, enables SSL-protected communication between an HOB client and a server that is not enabled for SSL. Additionally, it supports the HOB load balancing and application publishing features used for Windows Terminal Connectivity with HOBLink JWT, simplifying the connection process and configuration requirements. The load balancing feature enables the WebSecureProxy to connect the client to the server with the least load.
HOBLink Secure not only allows you to import the root certificates of all the significant certification authorities, but also makes it possible to create your own root certificates (X.509 standard).
The HOBLink Security Manager and the HOBLink SSL Client/Server are programmed in Java, making them usable on virtually any platform.
As a prerequisite for running the Java components from HOBLink Secure, a Java Virtual Machine according to the JDK 1.1.7 standard (or newer) must be installed on the target system.

The HOBLink Certificate Generator is a tool for creating a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). It is particularly indispensable if a Certification Authority (CA) is to be created and
individual certificates have to be generated for a large number of users.
The HOBLink Certificate Generator includes the Security Manager from the HOBLink Secure software
package, and enhances the Security Manager with functions for automatically generating certificates.
You need to create a complete PKI with your own CA (e.g., in order to remain independent of external vendors and keep your data security in your own hands, or to save on costs.)
