Why HOBLink JWT instead of ???
HOBLink JWT, the Java Windows Terminal Server client for RDP-based remote access, makes business-critical data in Windows-based applications available to all users, regardless of the type of hardware or operating system they are using.
Server-based computing – since the advent of the first Windows Terminal Server
(WTS) in 1996, the world of Windows has also enjoyed the benefits of accessing
applications residing on a central server. HOBLink JWT is the innovative
solution for accessing WTS that goes a step further: Cross-platform capability through Java technology
and no need to install anything on the client machine or on the WTS, as JWT
can be installed on a dedicated server located, for example, in the DMZ .
When used in combination with HOBLink Secure, our
Java Windows Terminal also offers you the most secure Terminal Server access
available on the market. (For more information on secure remote access, see
HOB RD VPN.)
As a platform-independent solution, HOBLink JWT lets you use the entire range of Windows applications running on the Windows Terminal Server, including the latest versions, regardless of the OS running on the client computer. By centrally installing and managing all the Windows applications as well as HOBLink JWT itself, you can significantly reduce your total cost of ownership.
HOBLink JWT's modular design provides you with the flexibility you need to get the best performance for your particular needs. The table below gives you some examples of the functions available with HOBLink products and the components that provide them.

HOBLink JWT v. 3.1 vs. CITRIX MetaFrame - Features, Performance & Price (PDF
File)
Yes, neither product affects the other.
No. Performance is affected by a variety of factors: The applications involved, how the client is equipped, the network load and how the WTS is configured and equipped, to name a few.
No. HOBLink JWT does not have a master browser. In our opinion, having a master browser could be an unstable factor, because if the server with the master browser crashes, there will be connecting problems for the clients until a new master browser is chosen automatically.
The major advantage HOBLink JWT has over Virtual PC for Mac is, that you do not need to install the Windows operating system on your Macintosh, nor do you need additional software to connect to the Windows file servers. Compared to Virtual PC for Mac, HOBLink JWT provides you with twice the functionality for less than half the price.
