HOB, Inc. Introduces Enhanced Version of Secure Remote Access Solution

Hawthorne, NY (June 7, 2010) – HOB, Inc. today announced an enhanced version of its HOB PPP Tunnel designed for enterprises to provide employees with secure access to their corporate network environments. The new version offers an improved graphical design and user interface. An integral part of HOB’s comprehensive security solution HOB RD VPN (Remote Desktop Virtual Private Network), the PPP Tunnel brings together the advantages and functionality of SSL VPN with IPSec.

Unlike HOB PPP Tunnel, standard SSL VPN solutions offer limited capabilities for accessing corporate applications, such as email. They are not sufficient for users who require full access to corporate network resources. From an IT perspective, IPsec-based VPN solutions are cumbersome to support and manage as they require a client install and do not fully support a broad range of network hardware configurations. HOB PPP Tunnel provides a cost-effective solution to deliver secure remote access, without the complexities associated with SSL VPN systems.

According to Gartner, “remote access creates continuous market demand for new virtual private network (VPN) products and services. IPsec VPNs are still popular for remote access, but the most interesting and visible market innovations continue to center on using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPNs as replacements or augmentations for legacy VPNs.” 1

Utilizing SSL and PPP, two standard protocols for Internet communications, is a boon to organizations since they are supported by all types of network hardware. On the local client side, the PPP Tunnel requires no additional installation of drivers or software. Only a Java-capable browser is required to use the solution. Another benefit is its integrated data compression technology which provides superior performance - even with slow Internet connections.

“We are constantly tweaking our products based on the needs and feedback of our customers,” explained Klaus Brandstätter, CEO of HOB, Inc. “We are pleased to offer our clients with a new version of the PPP Tunnel that offers an upgraded user interface designed to be more intuitive and easier to operate. The PPP Tunnel is ideal for home office workers who need access to an Intranet, email and desktop via RDP or administrators and managers requiring full network access – all of this is possible without installation on the client side.”

The HOB PPP Tunnel currently supports clients with Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. Click here to view a demo of the HOB PPP Tunnel.

HOB will soon launch a new version of its comprehensive security solution, HOB RD VPN 1.4 NetAccess, which will include an upgraded PPP Tunnel, supporting Linux/Unix and Mac OS X platforms.
