The new features: HOB has added the high-performance AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) algorithm to HOBLink Secure. AES is the successor to DES encryption, providing a very high-level, secure cipher standard with a maximum key length of 256 bits. In addition, HOBLink Secure is now equipped with two SSL proxy servers which also allow for load balancing. Running in combination with HOBLink JWT, these servers support the session management of the clients, load balancing, encryption and application publishing. It is especially significant that the software automatically handles all of these services via a single firewall port in an inter-company network. The entire communication between the HOBLink JWT client and the Terminal Server farm takes place behind a firewall via a WebSecureProxy; all data are also encrypted at the same time.
Above all, the software is designed to provide optimum protection for server farms. When HOBLink Secure is used together with HOBLink JWT in this configuration, the server farm is at no time exposed to unprotected access from the Internet. Furthermore, the HOBLink Secure Proxies allow the system administrator to set a maximum number of accesses and sessions per port. This makes it possible to minimize the danger of so-called “distributed denial of service” attacks. The WebSecureProxy server is available for the Sun Solaris and Windows platforms.
