Lean Mobile Computing - HOB Remote Desktop Virtual Private Network
HOB, the software developer specializing in secure connectivity solutions, is showcasing its secure remote access solution HOB RD VPN at this year's CeBIT.
Cadolzburg, January 31, 2005. At this year's CeBIT, HOB, the developer and manufacturer of high-grade security software, is putting the spotlight on its new Remote Desktop Virtual Private Network solution. HOB RD VPN has the major advantage that absolutely no installation on the client computer is required, meaning you can access your information from anywhere in the world, and from any computer!
Klaus Brandstätter, head of development and CEO at HOB, commented: “With our HOB RD VPN we provide enterprises with packets for encrypted and performant access to all enterprise applications and data, packets that can be implemented easily and at the same time are an alternative to the classic IPsec and SSL VPN solutions.”
"The system is managed," continued Mr. Brandstätter, "via the HOB WebSecureProxy software, a proxy server that is usually placed in a DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). Here, each individual client configuration for accessing the enterprise network is centrally stored and managed. Access takes place over only one TCP/IP port. At the same time, the system supports the Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP), which performs the online inspection of the client certificates."
HOB RD VPN provides mobile computing via three access
methods:
HOB Desktop-on-Demand: Secure access to your own
desktop computer in the office, at anytime, from anywhere, even if
it has been switched off.
HOB
Desktop-on-Blade: Secure access to the increasingly popular blade
systems.
HOB WTS Computing: Secure access to classic Windows Terminal
Server farms.
In addition, the HOB RD VPN solution also enables local applications, for example, e-mail clients, to access the corresponding servers over the SSL connection.
Requirements: The target computer needs to be equipped with Windows XP Professional or a Windows Server System.
